We are back again and as raring to go as before! CL Medilaw team up with Amputation Foundation to cover their participation in the At Home Winter Wonderwheels Superheroes Challenge.
Amputation Foundation is a unique charity that assists amputees to give them the best start following an amputation and this year they are one of the Superhero Series “Charity Friends”
Despite the elements of the Great British winter, Amputation Foundation have stepped up to the challenge in the form of 3 teams; THE QUAD SQUAD, WINTER WOBBLERS and UNIVERSALLY CHALLENGED.
The Quad Squad
Firstly, The QUAD SQUAD, made up of Philip, Oly, Jo and Sarah who are single leg knee amputees. Philip had planned to rack up the miles by swimming, whilst Oly was heading to the gym. Josephine and Sarah will be joined by their sidekicks and daughters Eliza and Taylor and hope to tackle the challenge through walking.
The Winter Wobblers
Team members Jackie, Laura, Pail and Kell belong to THE WINTER WOBBLERS. Jackie is founder of The Amputation Foundation and Laura is a sepsis survivor and fellow trustee. Kell is a recent amputee and this is the first at home event that they will have participated in.
Finally, team 3 – UNIVERSALLY CHALLENGED. The team consists of Terri, Mick, Kirsty B and Kirsty S. Terri is an above knee amputee and keen CrossFit enthusiast. She had planned to hit the gym and instead will be participating in Zoom Yoga classes. Mick is an arm amputee, lucky enough to tackle the challenge in the beautiful surroundings of Exmoor National Park. He will be going on plenty of walks to take on his strand of the challenge!
The teams had planned to participate using a variation of methods, however, in light of the recent restrictions, the teams must tackle the change head on and find new super ways to complete the challenge. We cannot wait to see what ideas they come up with!
