Supporting BoBaby!

CL Medilaw are delighted to announce a new partnership that will see The Bobath Centre’s BoBaby! sessions being supported by us.

BoBaby! is a free service offered by The National Bobath Cerebral Palsy Centre that is designed for children aged 0 to 2½ years old who have a neurological condition or are at risk of neurological impairment.

The centre, located in Watford, provides expert and tailored therapy to children from all around the UK who have cerebral palsy and similar neurological conditions.

With the launch of BoBaby! the centre is aiming to reach those families in the very early stages of their journey to offer early intervention to babies and toddlers to give them the greatest chance of neuro recovery and development.

As part of our ongoing commitment to support charities and children with cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions, we are sponsoring BoBaby! to help ensure that as many children have access to early intervention as soon as possible.

“We really enjoy the sessions and [are] very grateful for them, I look forward to them as it provides ideas on a more regular basis of things to try which I’m not getting from anywhere else at the moment. Thank you for running them!” – Mum of BoBaby! user

Why is early intervention important?

CL Medilaw and The Bobath Centre understand the difficulties that families face when trying to access local authority or NHS funded services. We also understand that early intervention is so important for infants with cerebral palsy or development delays, to ensure that therapy begins while the brain is still developing. This can significantly improve motor functions and cognitive abilities and positively change a child’s development path. It also helps families to learn how to better meet their child’s needs from an early age.

The Bobath approach is centred around understanding the individual child’s needs and difficulties and tailoring the therapy provision to best meet these needs in a holistic, trauma-informed and family-centred way.

What are the BoBaby! sessions?

The BoBaby! sessions aim to teach essential therapy skills so that parents, grandparents and other care givers can support a baby’s development. They include music, singing and games, incorporating physical activities to support trunk and head control and encourage motor, speech and cognitive development. The sessions are run by qualified therapists and are fun, informal and completely free.

Who can attend the sessions?

These sessions are aimed at children under 2½ years of age who are at risk of neurological difficulties or are experiencing developmental delays.

Where are the sessions held?

Sessions run weekly online, making it accessible for all, and once a month in person at The Bobath Centre.
